Subnautica2 API Library (S2ML)
A shared UE4SS Lua framework for Subnautica 2 mod creators. It supplies reusable helpers for events, player access, inventory, item and recipe registration, world operations, saves, notifications, and sounds. Players can install it when another mod requires the library; developers can use its dependency bridge and starter template to build on the shared APIs.

Get started
Installation & setup
- Install a compatible UE4SS Lua runtime for Subnautica 2; the project recommends UE4SS 3.0.1.
- Download and extract S2ML from the Files tab, then copy the included files into the game’s UE4SS Mods folder.
- Check that ue4ss/Mods/S2ML/ and ue4ss/Mods/shared/S2MLBridge.lua exist. Enable S2ML : 1 in mods.txt before mods that depend on it.
- Start the game and follow the dependent mod’s instructions. Early Access updates can change internal names; consult the release notes if a mod stops loading.
